Department of Theology

Department Overview

The Department of Theology offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to train future ministers. Students begin with foundational classical languages (Hebrew and Greek) and modern languages (English, German, French, Chinese, etc.). The program broadens theological horizons by incorporating Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology, and History, providing essential methodologies for academic inquiry.
Beyond pastoral training, we aim to develop upright Christian leaders who serve the church, society, and the nation. To enter the ordained ministry, graduates typically proceed to the Graduate School of Theology; students with exceptional undergraduate records may be eligible for admission without a separate entrance examination. A unique strength of our department is providing theological education during the formative years of youth, fostering keen insight and active thinking. We utilize world-class faculty and cutting-edge educational media to equip young leaders for global mission and ministry.

Educational Goals

▪ Cultivation of Piety: To foster spiritual devotion based on Christian faith.
▪ Academic Excellence: To pursue rigorous scholarship grounded in Christian theology.
▪ Value-Centered Life: To train students to lead lives based on Christian values.
▪ Leadership in Service: To develop leadership skills for mission and service to the church, the nation, and the world.

Major in Christian Education

The Department of Christian Education is dedicated to cultivating religious leaders (pastors, military chaplains, and church education directors) equipped with a solid foundation in educational theology and philosophy. We aim to produce chaplains, secondary school religious (Bible) teachers, and creative and interdisciplinary Christian leaders who integrate Christian values with academic practice. Our mission is to prepare Christian educators who possess spirituality, character, and interdisciplinary expertise, committed to the holistic development of individuals through Christian education.

Major in Social Welfare

Based on the Christian spirit and the philosophy of Hongik Ingan(the Korean philosophy of benefiting humanity at large), our program aims to cultivate talents who pursue truth, freedom, equality, and welfare for both the nation and mankind. In alignment with our founding principle, Gyeongcheon Ae-in (Revere Heaven, Love People), the Department of Social Welfare provides students with extensive opportunities to gain theoretical knowledge and practical experience, producing competent professionals who can translate academic excellence into compassionate action.

Major in Korean Studies

This department is designed to foster Korean language specialists who can disseminate Korean language and culture globally while assisting immigrants in successfully integrating into Korean society. We focus on training individuals who respect and embrace cultural diversity, preparing them to teach Korean as a foreign language and represent Korean culture within a global context.
